TIRANA, May 14 / ATSH-Maela Marini / Minister of Tourism and Environment, Blendi Klosi declared today in the Assembly that the law on the abolition of VAT on yachts is an economic mechanism that seeks to establish a missing industry in Albania and create more lots of employment.
During the discussion in the Assembly regarding the abolition of VAT on yachts, Klosi said that from this law there is no loss in the state budget because this industry does not exist in Albania.
“Talking about tourism can not only be sea, nature, natural heritage tourism, but we must establish a great policy that uses every opportunity that this country has and that brings to attention real opportunities, more employment and welfare. “, Said Klosi.
He stressed that tourism is an industry that produces employment and money and has many branches of it that need to be developed.
In this context, Klosi said that “this legal package comes with two laws, one for maritime tourism and one for the abolition of VAT on yachts.”
“This law needs to be debated and looked at, but for the debate to return to who benefits, it is the most wrong debate that is done to a new economic policy. A debate like when we reduced the VAT on hotels from 20% to 6%, for those hotels that today are a real mechanism in the entire tourist area of the country. This is how you debated when we built the strategy of 4-5 star hotels, and today we have a number of brands in the Albanian hotel industry. You also made this debate for agro-tourism “, reminded Klosi.
Klosi said that “we aim to become an attraction for a new industry to be built in Albania”.
“This industry exists in all Mediterranean countries. We need to set up a package of fiscal facilities to find a place in Albania to set up a new maritime industry to create more jobs. There are over 6 million vessels in the Mediterranean, while in Albania almost zero. It is a missing industry that we will strongly try to create in our country to bring about a change in the image of Albania. With yachts that do not belong to many Albanian businessmen, but are European yachts that seek to be cleared in Albania.
